WELCOME TO MIDDLE SCHOOL WEST

The main entrance at Middle School West features the first public work of art created for the STMA community. Designed by Artist and Art Teacher April Erickson, the mosaic was brought to life through the collaborative efforts of students in grades 5–8, along with teachers, staff, administrators, parents, school board members, and community volunteers who participated throughout the project.

Special thanks to Local Tile mason Matt Strait for his expertise in planning and installation, helping ensure the project's successful completion. Deep gratitude is extended to every student who dedicated their time, creativity, and effort to the mosaic throughout the year. This project was made possible through the generous support of the Central Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB), whose grant funding helped transform this vision into a lasting work of public art for the community.

“This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Central MN Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.”
