Athletics & Activites

With an exceptional variety of opportunities for athletics and activities, students at Middle School West can try new things, grow their skills, and aim for excellence in whatever they choose. The middle grades are an important time for students to be able to connect with others, explore their options, and receive a full-spectrum education that goes beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to explore, engage, and pursue excellence!

• Alpine Skiing (Offered 7-12 through a high school co-op with Annandale)  
• Boys Basketball (7th- 8th Grade)  Starts Jan. 4th
• Girls Basketball (7th - 8th Grade) Starts Oct. 26th
• Gymnastics (Offered 7-12 grade through the High School)  Starts November 16th
• Speech (Offered 7-12 grade through the High School)
• Boys Swim and Dive (Offered 7-12 grade throughout the High School)  Starts November 30th
• Wrestling (Grades 7 & 8)  Starts November 23rd
• Chess club (Grades 5-8)  Starts October 27th

Sports Physicals

Please make sure that the Middle School West Activities Office has a sports physical on file for your student.  The Minnesota State High School league requires participants in interscholastic sports to have a physical examination every three years. If your student decides to participate in interscholastic athletics this year, a physical examination is required before they may register or practice. Physicals may be performed by your medical doctor or a doctor of chiropractic. Download a copy of the Sport Physical Form to bring to your medical appointment.
