Girls Tennis

2023-24 Middle School Girls Tennis

Organizational/Eligibility meeting: There is a parent meeting on Thursday, August 3rd at 5:00 pm in the High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) to cover information regarding the middle school activities program. Students playing at both Middle School East and West will attend the same meeting this year. This meeting is not required but offers the opportunity to get information including eligibility policies, middle school activities philosophy, practice, and event information. While not guaranteed, many of the fall coaches are available at the meeting to cover more specific information about their activity and season.

2023 Match Schedule

Practice

The first day of practice is Tuesday, September 5th.  Practices are held Monday through Thursday from after school until 5:00 at the Middle School East tennis courts.  West tennis players will be bussed each night to East for practice and for home matches.  There will not be a bus route back to West, however.  Please pick up your daughters at East by 5:15 each night.

Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School West, our athletes are ambassadors of our school.  As an ambassador of our school, we expect our athletes’ behavior to be exceptional.  We want our athletes to be positive role models for others to see and follow.

Important Policies to remember:

  • Students need to be passing all of their classes to be on the team.  Mr. Antony will check to see if athletes  are passing all of their classes at mid-tri.
  • Students need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or competition that night.  Students with a doctor’s appointment may be excused from this requirement if they have documentation from the doctor referencing the appointment.  Make sure to bring this note from the doctor to our attendance person
  • Your coaches will expect the students to be at practice every day.  Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00.  Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
  • We will bus you to all road competitions and back to East.  You may ride home with your parents after road competitions rather than on the bus if you wish.  You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent.  If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Antony of this one day in advance.

Clothes:  make sure to have warm clothes in your locker at all times.  There will be some very cold days in the fall, dress smart.
