Behavior:

As an athlete for Middle School West, you are an ambassador of our school.  As an ambassador of our school, we expect your behavior to be that of a positive model for others to see and follow.

Important Policies to remember:

  1. You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the wrestling team. Mr. Antony will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the end of the trimester.

  2. You need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or play in a game that night. If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but you need to make sure to bring a note to our attendance person, from the doctor explaining that the appointment took longer than usual.
  3. Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
  4. We will bus you to all road events and back to West, but you may ride home with your parents after a game rather than ride the bus back to West. You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent.  If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Antony of this one day in advance.
  5. Weight Certification: On Friday, November 21st after school, we will do weight certifications with the high school Athletic Trainer, Karen Scully. This is a MSHSL process where she will measure skin folds and utilize the MSHSL provided formula to determine, certify, the lowest allowable healthy weight. This is NOT necessarily the weight they will compete at but rather the lowest weight they could compete at in matches, if they so choose. The wrestling program will bring a doctor to certify the results and families will also need to sign the weight certification form. Coach Joriman at the high school will record the results. The only action needed from the parents is to sign the form and for wrestlers to prioritize attending on 11/21/2025. If they miss, they will have to complete the process on their own prior to competing.

  6. Club Tournaments: Under MSHSL guidelines, athletes are unable to compete in Non-MSHSL Events during the season.  In doing so, it would render them ineligible to remain a part of the program (middle school, and/or high school competitions and practices).
